Possible Research Paper Topics
The key here is to find a topic you care about and that you want to learn more about for the next two months or so.
I'm flipping through your textbook, starting at p. 766, and here are some topics you might consider:
p. 769 -- Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal -- what was it and was it good for America?
connection to today: In a nod to Roosevelt's 100 days (see p. 769), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi started her time as Speaker by talking about 100 hours
p. 855 -- What was the social impact of World War II on America? The book looks at how African Americans, Mexican Americans, Native Americans, Japanese Americans, and Working Women were effected. Did the book leave any people out? What was the war's effect on children, for example?
connection to today: what effect(s) is the War on Iraq having on various groups of Americans?
p. 877 -- Was the Marshall Plan (sending aid to Western Europe after WWII) a good idea?
connection to today: would a similar plan make sense for Iraq? Why or why not?
